The college selection and application process can be a time of discovery, self-affirmation, and growth; or it can be a time of tremendous stress and insecurity, especially in today's competitive college admissions environment. Decisions made and activities pursued during middle and high school can significantly impact the outcome of the application process.
The goal of Designing Steps to Academic Success is to relieve some of the stresses accompanying this process by assisting students in building an individual "portfolio" of student achievements, and highlight the personal, academic, and extracurricular. The ultimate goal is to give college admissions professionals a true picture of the student, what he or she has to offer and how both the student and college or university will benefit from an invitation to the student to matriculate.
